A musical duo made up of twin brothers Michael Boafo also known as B2 and tony Boafo also known as twist. Jack of all trades is what best describes them as their talent goes beyond just music artistes, they pride themselves with their talents as song writers and music producers. As producers their works have massively been accepted and hailed by music enthusiasts in Ghana. they have produced some major hits for most of the mainstream acts, which includes ’Kpuu Kpaa’ by Shatta Wale, ’Wow’ by Joey B ft. EL, ’Sebgefia’ ft. Joey B and EL, ’Poison’ by Ebony, ’Forever’ by Eazy, ’Nana Ama’ by Pappy Kojo just to mention a few. Doing music has been the dream since they were kids. The zeal to achieve greater heights with music has always been their form of inspiration and has kept the dream alive in them. As musicians, Dope nation has contributed their quota to the Ghanaian music industry with songs like ’One’ ft. Gemini, ’3b3 Y3d3’ and their current song ’Uh Huh’ which is receiving an overwhelming airplay. They are undoubtedly the next big thing to happen in the Ghanaian music industry and beyond. A new addition to the very few females in the industry. Representing the Eastern part of Ghana, Ernestina Afare known in showbiz as Dhat Gyal is a young Ghanaian afro-pop/dance musician whose passion in music started at a very early stage in her life. Her love for music inspired her to begin singing and recording demos and later mastered it into singles. Her crave to further her music aspirations pushed her to delve deeper and to learn more. The uniqueness of Dhat Gyal is seen when she is mixing up two or more tracks from numerous artistes as a single record, that has gone a long way to spark the light of mashups in the industry. The 16-year-old singer draws inspiration from artistes like Kojo Antwi, Efya, Rihanna and hopes to follow their trend to develop her own style. She released two hit singles, ’Mayweather’ and ’Any Man Na Man’ which are currently trending on almost all social media platforms.
Christian Owusu Junior known as Royal Chris is a gospel musician who started professional music since 2008, though he started singing at the age of 6 in his church. His passion for music became more evident after he completed his senior high school, therefore took the decision to enter into music full time, hence his entry into the glory land school of music. He proceeded to participate in the music reality tv show, stars of the future in 2009 where he became the first runner up. He was also a contestant in another reality t
tv series, MTN Project Fame in Nigeria. Not satisfied, the singer songwriter in 2014 joined the Vodafone icons competition where he eventually won. Having had his fill with competitions, he began putting his music out to the world, he has a collaboration with Sonnie Badu on his song ’Otega’ and currently out with a new single ’Obrempong’. He has performed on various big stages including the GUBA awards in UK, Becca’s 10 years’ concert, Vodafone 020 concert and his own concert called Royal Praise which featured Ceccy Twum and other gospel musicians. As a young upcoming gospel musician, Christian hopes to touch the world with his voice and win souls for Christ and also become one of the big names in the gospel fraternity in Africa and the world.
With the aim of breaking boundaries and tearing territories with his music and craft, Wisdom Kodzo Kuranyu well known in showbiz as Real MC has over the years built a solid foundation for himself. Although a proud representative of the people of Volta Region, Real MC’s music cuts across the entire shores of Ghana. In 2015, he was awarded the best rapper at the Central Music Awards and has always proved himself worthy to get nominated ever since. He has graced several stages including the commissioning of the new Cape Coast Sports Stadium, Orange Friday Carnival by Cape FM, Central Music Awards nominees jam, Cape Coast Salafest Carnival and many others. The young talented rapper is currently signed on to Harbor City Recordz where he released his debut single ’Shishiblishi’, a song which has been widely accepted and seen phenomenal growth in airplay on radio with YouTube streams nearing 65,000 views. He also embarked on several media tours and received wide commendation by industry personalities including XLM music producer, Jam Master Jay and a few others. Real MC is currently working with other top notch producers around the country.
He scratched the surface of mainstream music when he participated in the reality music tv series, MTN Hitmaker 5. His outstanding performance in the show earned him the name ’rapperthologist’ by ace radio/tv presenter, Jay Foley when he appeared on the show as a guest judge. His uniqueness stems from the fact that he raps in his local dialect Twi as well as English and pidgin language. Born Obeng Francis Kumi, the 25-year-old rapper does diverse genres of music but with particular focus on hip hop and afro pop. He has featured on many platforms including the launch of Airtel Trace, the VIM concert, GH Hip Hop Night, Madina meets Sakumono amongst others. O’BKAY has to his credit works with top Ghanaian sound engineers like Magnum, Kaywa, Kuvie, Seshie, Eddy Kay etc. He has, since his participation in the Hitmaker show released ’Adiepena’, a song he wrote and recorded in 2016 which was produced by Magnum. His new 2018 song ’Lemme Know’ which featured Kesse and Kurlsongs had over 24,000 downloads in its first week of release. It definitely took his music career to the next level. O’BKAY sees himself as the next big thing in Africa.
KELVYN BOY (WINNER)
Real name Kelvin Brown is a Ghanaian afro pop/dancehall artiste who started music in 2008 whiles singing in church. The 26-year-old singer, songwriter grew up listening to Fela Kuti, Bob Marley and Stonebwoy which he says influenced his music. His style of fashion is a synergy of maturity, class and trendiness which he believes makes him accepted by all class of people, which is both young and old. Kelvin boy has a unique musical style derived from his desire to sing and compose lyrics with everything happening around him. His soulful side, which he adopted from regularly singing in church, makes his voice sound melodic. He however hopes to develop his music career around these various genres, afro-beat, afro-pop, reggae, dancehall and highlife. Set to put his lyrics and voice to the world, kelvin looks to soar higher in his music career. He is currently signed under Bhim Nations management and is already set to release ’Play’ and ’To EE’. Kelvin boy is part of the new generation of music.
